EQX Nomad: [Club of Tomorrow]
[31 W 27th Street, New York, NY]
Nomad (North of Madison Square Park) is in an interesting urban conversion-- now being one of NYC's most up-and-coming neighborhoods. A hotbed of luxury condo buildings >> previously known as a clustered area of wholesale stores along Broadway. Given this transition, it seemed the perfect context to incubate a future concept for EQX experience, looking into the future at "The Club of Tomorrow".
The baseline concept pushed a renaissance of many circumstances within what was more-so known as a traditional EQX Club experience-- with the goal of challenging the idea of high performance space and what it could represent. Responding to the friction between New York City and EQX, while balancing the sense of raw/urban realities with luxury precision and performance. The design intention integrated the physical and digital; upgrading programs and spatial functions through shared means of integrated communication.
As a whole, the project responds to several key initiatives; social, material, personal, functional and digital.
Materiality was approached very pragmatically in the sense of repurposed concepts // or something entirely new: custom upholstery- a performance knit textile that yields extremely little to no waste in development, application and ultimate lifespan.
